Celebrating America's 250th

Happy 4th of July from HookSet Realty 🇺🇸

From my family and HookSet Realty, we want to wish you and your family a happy, safe, and memorable Independence Day as we celebrate America’s 250th year!

There’s just something special about the Texas Coast this time of year — boat rides at sunset, backyard BBQs, sandy feet, fishing poles leaning against the porch, and fireworks reflecting over the water. Coastal communities remind us what home is really about: neighbors helping neighbors, families making memories, and slowing down long enough to enjoy the simple things.

As you celebrate this weekend, here are a few friendly reminders to help keep everyone safe:

  • Please be mindful of where fireworks are being used. A good rule of thumb is to stay at least 300 feet away from homes, buildings, vehicles, boats, and other structures whenever possible.
  • Keep a water hose with a spray nozzle nearby, a fire extinguisher, and/or a few buckets of water handy – for everyone’s safety. Having a plan in place before lighting fireworks can help prevent small accidents from turning into dangerous fires.
  • Keep fireworks away from dry grass, docks, boats, marsh areas, and brush, especially during hot, windy coastal conditions where fires can spread quickly.
  • Never leave fireworks unattended around children or pets, and always supervise lighting and disposal carefully. Speaking of disposal – make sure to pick up the trash when you are wrapping up your celebrations. This keeps our wildlife safe, and our beaches and surrounding areas clean.
  • Many pets become anxious or frightened during fireworks. Keeping them indoors with music, a fan, or calming background noise can help reduce stress. Make sure collars and ID tags are securely on, as many pets go missing during holiday celebrations.
  • Be mindful of local burn bans, wind conditions, and fast-changing coastal weather before using fireworks or outdoor grills.
  • If you’re heading out on the water, make sure life jackets, navigation lights, and emergency supplies are ready before dark, and always boat responsibly.
  • Please don’t drink and drive. Plan ahead with a designated driver, trusted ride, Uber, taxi, or safe transportation option so everyone makes it home safely.

And one important reminder that means a lot in small communities like ours — not everyone experiences fireworks the same way. Some veterans, first responders, and others living with PTSD may find loud explosions difficult or triggering. A little kindness, consideration, and communication with neighbors can go a long way toward making the holiday enjoyable for everyone.

Whether you’re celebrating on the bay, at the beach, around a fire pit, or simply relaxing at home, we hope your weekend is filled with laughter, good food, beautiful sunsets, and time with the people you love most.

Happy 4th of July from our family at HookSet Realty to yours! Stay safe and enjoy the coast. 🇺🇸⚓
